How to find Deals and Online Coupons - By: Christine Harrell

Deals can be easier to find than most people think. Just pick up the local newspaper to see offers for restaurants and fitness centers. Look online and you'll see savings for airfares, hotels and stores. One of the most popular coupon deals, however, is through saving money at restaurants.

First, look in the newspaper or in the phone book to see if they offer any deals. People will usually see a clipping for $10 off the next meal or off an entree. And yes, phone books do offer incentives. Look in the middle of the book to find them, or in the "Restaurants" section. Remember, not every phone book carries coupons, only the big name carriers. Most of these coupons expire before the end of the year, so that they keep up to date with the publish date of the book. The next year will have a new crop, however.

Consumers usually receive a brochure, menu or pamphlet about a restaurant in the mail or at the front door. Inside, it will introduce potential customers to the company, tell them about the selection of food, the prices and will include a few coupons. Be sure to clip them out and set them aside, especially if visiting that restaurant is at the top of the to-do list. Watch out for expiration dates, so that the value is not lost.

For those living in an area without nearby restaurants, chances are residents won't be receiving any menus or phone books. The Internet can be a valuable source of information, especially for saving money at restaurants and eateries. Most restaurants have their own web site now. Log on and look at their selection of food, prices, locations and see if they having any specials or deals.

Another option is to search for restaurant coupons. There are various sites that offer coupons exclusively for restaurants or other places as well. Some will require you to buy coupons or to sign up. The reason for this is that the retailers and merchants want to know where their advertising dollars are going and if their coupons are working.

Once you find a site, there will be offers for hundreds of restaurants and other businesses. They could say anything from, "Pay $2 for this coupon and get $6 off your next appetizer," or "Buy One Kids Meal and get a Free Sundae." When it comes to paying for coupons, the amount redeemed will be double or triple the amount paid. Often local restaurants have interesting deals. These sites usually offer a "shopping cart" if purchased or it may just have to be printed out.
